4D Agile™ is AGILEAN's approach to Agile project management.  The Agile and Lean Glossary defines Agile project management as an approach that delivers value early and often through rapid time-boxed iterations known as sprints.  Unlike a waterfall approach to project management, the deliverables of every Agile sprint contribute directly to customer value creation.  Agile is a Lean approach to project management.

4D Lean™ is AGILEAN's approach to Lean process improvement.  The Agile and Lean Glossary defines Lean process improvement as an approach to maximize customer value while minimizing waste or non-value added activities.  Unlike the problem/solution approach to requirements development, Lean innovates by constantly seeking ways to increase the value to customers, not just solve problems.
